Why do students attend Sunrise High School?

At Sunrise High School, our students participate in a customized learning environment. We understand that not all students learn the same way. Our learning platform is designed to support students who are over-age for grade in middle school, or they do not have enough credits to graduate from high school on time.

Our students are able to catch up on credit hours to graduate quickly!

When a student is willing to work with us and remain focused on learning, the possibility for success is greater for them to catch up on credit hours to graduate quickly. If this is a concern for you, we invite you to call (954) 446-9234 to find out what options are available for you to earn your high school diploma quickly.

The sooner you come to us to help you realize your educational dream, the better!

To get started, we will provide you with a free review and analysis of your current transcript and report card. This complimentary and free review will allow us to get your child back on track and on a pathway to success.

When your child enrolls in a NorthStar Academy . . .
After they earn their high school diploma, they will have three pathways to success beyond high school–

1. Enrollment into a college or university.
2. Enlistment into a branch of the armed service.
3. Employment that is beyond minimum wages.

Mission Statement

To provide all students with an innovative, personalized blended learning environment that will ensure our learners fulfill their potential, both academically and socially. Our goal is to motivate, educate and graduate students in order to cultivate lifelong learners. We promote student voice!

Every Kid Needs a Champion!
Rita Pierson tells you why . . .

Is your future on your mind?

Hey, Wait a minute . . .

Are you telling me I can catch up on my credits and graduate with my class?

Okay, I am listening . . .

Tell me what I need
to do to get started.

Are you sure you
can help me? . . .

Yes, we are sure. Our students all have their own story for how they were either behind a grade and were not going to graduate.

Another win for CTE Barbering program!

Over the weekend, Sunrise High School student, Dave Previlon won the Risk it All Barber Battle. Dave participated in the student battle competition. The battle was held in Ft Lauderdale, Florida and some of the biggest barbers in the industry were in the building. Dave is using the CTE Barbering program as a stepping stone to his promising Barbering career.

The success of NorthStar Academies’ Barbing CTE programs is exemplified by instances such as seventeen-year-old student Dave Previlon's remarkable achievements. Despite his youth, Dave demonstrated remarkable skills that allowed him to compete successfully against talented peers and established barbers in the county of Broward. Notably, he clinched the first prize in the "Student Barber" category, facing off against well-known industry professionals.

Dave, a student at Sunrise High School, has achieved this success through his perseverance, dedication, and the encouragement of his teacher Mr. Dora. His journey to success has not been an easy one, but he views the CTE Barbering program as a crucial stepping stone toward realizing his ambitions in the Barbering business career.

A SECOND CHANCE!

“I’ve been attending Sunrise High for two years and from what I have experienced, I can say that this is an awesome school. I can learn at my own pace and they offer flexible scheduling. The teachers are amazing and they are always willing to go the extra mile.

They are able to relate to us and make learning fun. They take their time and to prep us for FSA, EOC’s, SAT and ACT. They even have fun days, where the students can go outside and play basketball and kickball. Overall Sunrise High is a great school and I couldn’t imagine attending another school.”

Jhakiah Scott, Senior Class of 2020

WHAT STUDENTS SAY
___

JAY DABELUS
___

“When Jay Dabelus entered Sunrise High School in the 2017-18 school year, he was quiet, yet very irascible. Jay stayed to himself mostly, and did only what was required of him to get by. However, being an inquisitive person, Jay began to watch the teachers, how they helped other students, and began to interact more with other teachers and school staff. By the end of the school year, Jay Dabelus was volunteering and assisting students and staff alike.

Jay volunteers approximately 20 hours per week at Sunrise high and he is training to be a boxer at Charter Park. Jay Dabelus decided to take charge of his life by setting goals for himself. As of today, November 13th 2018, Jay Dabelus has earned 23 credits and has satisfied all state requirements to earn his high school diploma in June 2019.”

-Mayra Robles

"Thank you so much Ms. Joseph, my big brother Hector, who graduated last year, said to tell you he said hi! He misses you and hopes all is well. He is currently a manager at a beauty supply store and he is about to start at Broward College in the Fall. We really appreciate you."
